~Sorority Rush~

We had our "Rush" party on Thursday! It is amazing looking at all of the talent these ladies have. I am truly blessed to share this experience with so many wonderful ladies!



I'm am trying my best to get to each and everyone to leave a comment and look at every little piece of eye candy out there! It's taking me some time though, my husband had me working like a dog this weekend. We are rebuilding our horse shoe pits. What a project, and I am working on a little something special to go on the fence next to the pits. Picture will be posted by mid week!

I must say, I did a saying on one of my Rush Projects and am getting amazing feedback about it and some ladies wanting it to be our "Motto". I am so flattered! Thanks to all who like it!

~It's called "My Shabby Streamside Studio"~

As I was logging into Yahoo today an article caught my eye. There is a very talented woman (Sandra Foster) in the Catskills who turned a 9x10 hunting cabin into her studio by a stream. She did all the carpentry herself (amazing)!

Words can not describe this cute little Victorian Cottage. I will share some of the pictures but please take a look at her blog HERE for more information and to see some other photos.

I hope you will be as amazed as I am at this great little studio.

Bloggerette Sorority!

Today is THE day ~ “Rush Day”...it begins right now, for the Bloggerette Sorority over at Karen’s Some Days Are Diamonds. We were given a little "pledge", it included...printing out the Bloggerette’s picture...then create something fabulous with it. Of course, we have to blog about it. Here is the kicker, I mean a real "kicker"...Karen wanted us to take a picture of us with our creation...well, I'm here to tell you...I did it...not likin' it much (I hate my picture being taken right now!), but it's done and now posted!

So, here is my little creation...I printed the picture, and made a framed pin cushion out of it! I love to sew and I love, love, love to have a handy pin cushion. I made a little Paris one not long ago for Etsy. I decided since this was MY Sorority, it would be great to have a reminder of it in my space...

And of course, here is me with my pin cushion...

Now, I started with a different project altogether, it is a "glittered" wall hanging...

This is my favorite part of it...

I was having a hard time capturing the whole saying...

but I will leave my Soroity Sisters with it...

~More Vintage Finds~

This weekend I went to an Estate Sale and scored some more great vintage finds...here they are:.

This little beauty will be a cake plate, married to a vintage ice cream sundae cup!

Vintage Rosary Cards, not sure yet!

Dollies, a few of them in a bag together!

A Rose Table cloth, not finished but let's see what it can become!

Plus a few more goodies including vintage lace!  What a score!  Ican't wait to get started on some projects!

~Easy Summer Treat~

Frozen Watermelon Treats

These treats are so easy to prepare and what a great addition to your 4th of July barbeque! 

Here is the recipe:

1 watermelon

Craft sticks(or popcicle sticks)

Foil

Cookie Sheet

Cut you watermelon in half. Reserve one side for the "pop holder"

Cut thick ring slices (about 1/2 inch thick) of watermelon

Use your cookie cutter and cut out your shape

Insert your craft stick into your watermelon shape, taking care not to poke it through.

Place on you foil lined cookie sheet and freeze for a few hours.

~Little Treasures~

I thought I would share with you all some little treasures that I have acquired. The bottles and iron were in a tub from the family property in Arkansas. The little table and skates belonged to my cousin.

Cute little table, I'm thinking a coat of chippy white paint and a little sanding to see her "deep down" beauty. 

Who doesn't love old roller skates!  Used to go every Saturday morning as a kid and teen, now I'm not sure if I could even stand up straight with them on!

Old Sid Iron, there are tons floating around but this one has the original rust (just kidding), pretty rusty though!

Bottles, they are very dirty!  Need to get them spiffed up a little!  he lid on the bottle in the second picture as what appears to be dirt crusted to the top, but really looks like rust.  It says "Horlicks Malted Milk" on the bottle with a piece of hardened malted milk still in it!

I think this little beauty will turn into a "hook board" with flower vase.

I will let you know what happens to all of these little treasures and show pictures when I get them under way!

~Thinking of Independence Day~

One of my favorite holidays is Independence Day! Ok, well actually I must confess, I don't think there is a holiday I really don't like...(sigh)! I love to decorate my yard in red, white and blue for the holiday. Today I was searching for some new ideas and came across a few that I thought worthy of sharing. Hope you enjoy the eye candy...

Oh my, do you think I should put this in my yard?

Not sure if JB (that's what my husband's friends call him) would let me add a bike, I already have a wheel barrel, wash tub, old windmill...the list goes on!

Now maybe I could sneak this in next to the ladder full of plants...think he would notice?

Oh and a wagon wheel, don't have one of those yet!

I have a new love...for vintage beach signs.  I can't wait to start collecting and putting them up in my backyard.  Here are a few that I found while surfing (oh, silly me, no pun intended)!...

~Getting to Know You Friday~

It’s time for getting to know you again. I like doing this because the questions are fun. So here we go…..

1. Men's chests..hairy or hairless? This is really a tough one for me, I really say it depends on my mood! My hubby doesn't and sometimes I wish he did, then there are times I'm glad he doesn't!  Oh, silly me...


2. How often do you run red lights? Never ever on purpose, once on accident!


3. If you could raid any celebrity's closet..who's would you raid?  Easy, Trisha Yearwood, she is so down to earth and her clothes are the bomb, cowboy boots...I love them!


4. Would you rather have more followers/friends on Facebook, Twitter, or your Blog? Blog


5. What makes you feel sexy? Nice tan and white lace


6. I get excited when...........? I get to see or talk to old friends.
7. Are you the "outdoorsy" type or more "indoorsy"? Hum...another tough one.  I love being outdoors in the spring, summer and fall but in the winter...give me the indoors everytime!


8. Would you rather have your dream home or a million dollars? My dream home!  I'm not all about money...believe it or not!

While surfing today, I found one of the most beautiful homes so I thought I would share it with you! I hope you enjoy the tour as much as I did!


This home is located in Jacksonville, Ill., it is a stately, six-bedroom house is a landmark of that city's historic district.

What a beautiful welcoming!

The dining nook, love the floor length mirror!

This is signature "Euro Trash" Style. The straight lines of the bookcase with the carved gilded sofa. Look at the painting, so soft but yet what a presence it brings to the space.

Details, take a close look at the slipcovers on the chairs. They have a tufted button detail on them! The armoire is a stately piece for the space.

Dividing the living room from the sitting room is an archway rimmed in tooled leather and guarded by carved indian heads. Wow! I would love to have this archway in my home...

One of the children's bedrooms.  I could certainly call this room mine!

Ah, the vanity...So simple but yet so lovely!

Look at the details in this room, the slipper tub, mirror and chair.  That blue on the chair gives so much to the room, just takes my breath away!

~Cute little reclaimed Bench~

I happened across the cutest little reclaimed item this morning and thought I’d share. I now think I must run out and find an old headboard and get busy! I have several places where this little beauty would look great (and the daydreaming begins)!...Well, back to sharing the photos and instructions with you all.

Fist we have got to find the perfect head and footboard to a twim or full size bed...

Ahh...here it is...

Then we cut it in half, like this...

Next, before you start screwing anything together, sand each of the pieces to take some of the paint off so that when you give it a finial coat of paint the wood will show through. The next step is to screw the foot board onto the headboard to create the right and left sides of the bench...like this...

Now...shape the foot board pieces so that they would fit better at the back and look like they were made that way. Notice on the above picture how they were shaped downward and the back of the bench...Otherwise the foot board pieces would just hit the headboard above the flat part of the legs and it just would look plain weird. Ok, now built a box inside the bench out of 2x4's. This gives a place to attach the slats for the seat of the bench. Paint the the 2x4's and the slats with Kilz to help keep the bench from rotting (not really neccessary if you will leave it inside)! 

Getting close...time for paint!  This is from Wal-Mart, it is a great great ballet pink. So coat the bench with the two coats of the paint you choose.  Wait for it to dry then take your handy sander to it. What a lovely shabby chic look that sanding off part of the paint gives.
