~Be Grateful for the Small Things~

My sister (ok, so she's really my best friend) sent me this today.  I think that sometimes we all forget to "Be Grateful for the Small Things" so I thought I'd share it with you all.  I don't know who the author is but I hope it touches your heart as it did mine!

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind.
She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend.
He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend,
'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.'

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages
came off, she was able to see everything, including her
boyfriend.

He asked her, 'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The
girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The
sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected
that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life
led her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her
saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before
they were yours, they were mine.'

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who
was always by their side in the most painful situations.
Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't
speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone
who has nothing to eat..

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone
who's crying out for a companion.

Before you complain about life - Think of someone who went
too early to heaven..

Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who
walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the
unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your
job..

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on
your face and think: you're alive and still
around...

Always foster an attitude of gratitude, it will change your life.

Today, Donna at The House on Corner  posted the following message:

Vintage

While cruising around blogland and images today looking for some inspiration, I came across a home that takes my breath away!  This home was featured in an old Country Living and the owner Nancy Fishelson sold the home in '09.

I have a love affair with old signs and there are old signs everywhere...take a look and let me know what you think!

Don't I wish my kitchen were big enough to put a rocking chair in...

Love how the bath tub is in the bedroom...

Enjoy your day!

~Green with Envy~

Want to add a shot of color to your decor?  One of the easiest colors to bring in is Green!

This green side table makes the entry pop!

This medicine cabinet against neutral walls gives the room a true vintage feel...

These chairs are a sure heart throb!

Simple green plants, makes this room look like spring is in the air...

Bring in the Green Depression Glass, one accessory that is always a hit!

Sunset magazine featured this beach cottage, look at the pops of green here used in different elements...
Frames...

Pillow and Table...

Cups, Bowl and Plant...

This is one of my all time favorite rooms, the greens used in this room are very subtle...the wreath and plants.

Green...a subtle way to bring the outdoors in and liven up any room...
Now are you GREEN WITH ENVY?

~Vintage Comfort~

These rooms are sure to inspire!  They are all about modern vintage comfort.

They are decorative yet simple, practical and usable, while conveying history, timelessness, quality and uniqueness.

This blue pantry door makes my heart skip a beat!

I heart this island...can I have one just like it??

Blue...blue...blue...what else can be said about this room...so beautiful!

The pink just makes this room!  It adds so much with so little effort!

Just makes you want to curl up and relax!

Swoon!

I hope yo all have a wonderful evening!

Letting Go!

I feel trapped by MY set of rules

I must learn to let go of…

Situations beyond my control

Things (maybe I have too many THINGS)!

People, ones who don’t want to be in my life…even if I’ve tried again and again…I can not control if they don’t want to be there… I am too easy to let myself form an attachment to people and things. It’s the thought of not having someone or something in my life that just squeezes my heart with pain. I know there are times where a person has changed to the extent that it’s necessary to let go of that relationship or friendship, but there they were…part of me…part of who I am…the pain of letting go is so scary!

Myself…this is probably the hardest…I’m a control freak…I can’t relax…I can’t just be...still… Letting go of my “old self” and the thought of letting something new emerge is very hard for me! It’s all about taking that Leap of Faith, the unknown…maybe…just maybe though…it will reveal a new me, one of beauty and talent!

So with the New Year…I am going to try to "LET GO!"

Hopefully…this is what you will see…

Have a wonderful day!  See you soon...
