A New Bathroom

We are finally done with the main bathroom renovation!  I'm so happy with the way it turned out.  Of course JB got going on the demo before I could get in there and take before pictures.  I have only a couple that I could find (let's face it, it was sooo ugly that I didn't really ever want to take pictures of it)!  So, here are the only two pictures I could find...oh yea excuse the dog, she loves to lay in the bathtub (silly girl)...guess it's cool on her belly...

The tub, sink and toilet were yellow (the toilet had a white set though).  The dark on the tub is from someone putting brown (I don't know why) grout and caulk.  It always looks just dirty to me...

Hard to see but the floor was the old school flecked laminate.  Walls were kind of a turquoise blue and the sink was fake marble with an arched door.  Very un-attractive if I don't say so myself!

Here is our version of a bathroom...

Beautiful Italian tile tub to ceiling in the tub/shower area

White tub, toilet and sink
Brown mosaic inlay around window, shower wall and shampoo cubbie

Plain linen shower curtain (I might change this...maybe too plain for me)!

Black vanity, mirror and light fixtures!

I love the way it turned out!  I did a previous tutorial on the mirror and vanity here, so be sure to check it out!

Hope you enjoyed my little tour and don't forget about the giveaway, check it out here.

Have a wonderful day!

Some good news finally!

The reason I have been MIA so much lately is I have been working on a "little" project dear to my heart.  After all this time, I am ready to announce the opening of my new online home decor/gift store.

Please check it out and pass the word.  I will have new products every week.  I am in the process of doing furniture rehab also and there will be a separate category for that on my store.  The furniture will only be available for pick-up only.  More on that next week!

I am also celebrating 1 year of blogging!  In honor of my store opening and my 1 year anniversary I am doing a little giveaway.

The lucky person will win......

MIA

Well, it sure has been a while since I have posted! I have been here just super busy...here is a little peek of some of the stuff I have been up to...I will do a full reveal on Friday, as I will be completely done by then!

Of course, I forgot to take before pictures of the light fixture...so I snapped a quick picture of the box!  Yes the fixture was brushed nickel, I wanted it black!  A can of spray paint goes a long way...

Here is the after!  I love it.  I added seeded glass shades.

Doesn't it look great!  This is in the "new" bathroom.  This room was one of two left for the upstairs remodel.  I love the way it is turning out!

Now...check out the mirror.  I got the idea from Sasha over at {show&tell}
If you have not checked out her blog, you really need to hop on over and check it out!  You will be blown away...she is GREAT!
Plain builders mirror glued to the wall, I used Liquid Nails!

Three different mouldings were used, this is outside corner moulding, used for the very outside edge.
Baseboard was used and screen moulding.

Baseboard, I painted the backside edge so as not to show reflection in the mirror

Screen moulding on top, corner on bottom!

It was put together like so...screen moulding, baseboard, screen moulding then the outside corner moulding.

I love the way it turned out!  There will be more pictures with the final reveal!

See you again on Friday for the big reveal!!

~Be Grateful for the Small Things~

My sister (ok, so she's really my best friend) sent me this today.  I think that sometimes we all forget to "Be Grateful for the Small Things" so I thought I'd share it with you all.  I don't know who the author is but I hope it touches your heart as it did mine!

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind.
She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend.
He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend,
'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.'

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages
came off, she was able to see everything, including her
boyfriend.

He asked her, 'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The
girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The
sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected
that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life
led her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her
saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before
they were yours, they were mine.'

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who
was always by their side in the most painful situations.
Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't
speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone
who has nothing to eat..

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone
who's crying out for a companion.

Before you complain about life - Think of someone who went
too early to heaven..

Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who
walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the
unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your
job..

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on
your face and think: you're alive and still
around...

Always foster an attitude of gratitude, it will change your life.

Vintage

While cruising around blogland and images today looking for some inspiration, I came across a home that takes my breath away!  This home was featured in an old Country Living and the owner Nancy Fishelson sold the home in '09.

I have a love affair with old signs and there are old signs everywhere...take a look and let me know what you think!

Don't I wish my kitchen were big enough to put a rocking chair in...

Love how the bath tub is in the bedroom...

Enjoy your day!
